Senior Care Advisor Sherree Brown

Raised by her mother and grandmother in Englewood, Florida, Sherree Brown learned to care for her elders at a young age. As she grew into a teenager, Sherree assisted her grandmother in the afternoons and, through the last few years, has become a powerful healthcare advocate for her grandmother throughout her many hospital and rehab stays. Now, Sherree is expanding her lifelong passion for senior care into her new role as a Senior Care Advisor on the Assisted Living Locators Manasota team.

For the last two years, Sherree has put her dual Masters of Public Health and Masters of Social Work degrees to good use by advocating for vulnerable populations. Most recently, as the Senior Case Manager for Homeless Outreach at the Sarasota Police Department, Sherree coordinated and implemented new community programs, oversaw crisis interventions, created and maintained advantageous community partnerships, conducted mental health assessments and assisted and encouraged clients to meet goals and use available social services to improve their quality of life. During her time with the department, Sherree was the recipient of numerous awards for distinguished service, including the Chief’s Award, a Unit Citation, the 16th Congressional Law Enforcement Award, the Civilian Employee of the Quarter award and a Commendation.

Prior to her tenure with the Sarasota Police Department, Sherree worked as a Project Consultant for the WellCare Managed Care Healthy Start program to fund evidence-based, state-wide teen pregnancy prevention. During this time, she worked with pregnant and parenting teens to provide counseling, education and referrals to local service providers. She also acted as the part-time Program Coordinator for a local non-profit organization, providing sexual health education and advocacy for teens.

Sherree is SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery) Certified and currently is working toward her social work licensure. She also is registered as a field instructor to supervise college students working toward their degree in social work. In addition to her Master’s degrees and relevant certifications, Sherree also has a Bachelor’s of Education and has worked as an elementary school teacher and school social worker. She has more than 500 professional development hours under her belt, including Sexual Health Educator, Florida Institute on Homelessness and Supportive Housing, Prevention of Youth Suicide and 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Leadership Training.

A highly organized and motivational leader, Sherree is an outstanding communicator and active listener who is looking forward to bringing her positive disposition, problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills to her new role at ALL Manasota.
